Claire Lucia

NYC stole her heart and since then she’s been living the dream in the Big Apple. Miss Claire Lucia is a dare devil with a heart full of wanderlust. No need to say, I’m getting envious while watching her vlogs or scrolling through her Instagram. And then I haven’t even mentioned her style…

Tell us something no one knows about you.
Most people think I’m just a wild, goofy girl. Not many people know that I am actually very sensitive. The ones close to me call me “an intense person” because I experience things quite intense. Walking through the city gives me new insights every day. When I’m walking around by myself, I often feel the need to stand still to take a breath and let all things in. Oh, and I tend to eat half a jar of peanut butter with a spoon. That’s also me.

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?
The first thing I do is grab my phone and check the weather. NYC has the strangest shifts, weather-wise. One day it’s 18 degrees, the next day the temperature drops to about 5. It’s crazy. Then I check my messages and Instagram. After that, I have a glass of warm water with freshly squeezed lemon, take a shower and I am ready to start my day.

Whose style do you admire?
I appreciate so many different styles, from chic to street. Lately I’m really into anything Scandinavian. I admire the style of Elsa Ekman and Courtney Trop.

New York or Amsterdam?
New York, without a doubt. I love walking through this city and seeing something completely new every day. Amsterdam is adorable, but feels like a village to me. Whereas New York feels like an endless city.

The thing I miss the most when I’m away from home is..
Besides my family and friends, I miss SPACE! Living in NYC is fun and all, but my place is really small and I barely have room for my belongings. Shitty thing is that I can’t seem to stop buying new stuff. It’s not even clothes, mostly just memorable things I pass and that will remind me of my time here whenever I leave New York.

What's the craziest thing you've done?
I don’t want to brag, but I’ve done many crazy things. One thing that comes to mind right away is the day I went to a NYC brunch party at 1pm and got home at 6am the next day. I was with one of my closest friends and we met so many new people and party-crashed several places. A day (and night) to remember!

How do you manage your fast and hectic life?
Honestly? I don’t. I feel tired EVERY DAY. I guess you just keep going. They say this is the city that never sleeps. That saying is true, I can assure you. I try to write things down as much as I can, but then I lose the paper I wrote it on. I try to plan my week upfront, but then things come up and my entire plan gets interrupted. Yep, I’m a walking mess.

Enjoy life, work hard, don’t be afraid

Claire Lucia

I feel most confident when I...
When I’m wearing a new outfit and stroll through the streets of NYC. Together with friends or alone. I love being alone here sometimes because you meet so many new people if you’re open to conversations with strangers.

What’s your coffee order?
Ordering a pumpkin spice latte with almond milk every now and then doesn’t count, right? I prefer tea over coffee. Chamomile or jasmine, to be exact. Or a Diet Coke, that also counts as caffeine.

All-night party or Netflix and chill?
This one is too hard for me, so I would say; both!

What piece of advice would you give to your younger self?
To not be afraid. I felt homesick as soon as I left the house until I was twelve. I used to dream about living in cities like New York, but I was always afraid to actually take the plunge. I’ve learned so much in these past years. There’s nothing to be afraid of. Do whatever your heart tells you to do and don’t let fear keep you from taking steps.

Best life advice someone gave you?
All of the above. Enjoy life, work hard, don’t be afraid, and all things will fall into place. Trust me.

Which album could be the soundtrack of your life?
Many. It all depends on where I am, what I’m doing, and how I feel. Follow me on Spotify to hear what I listen to.
